Job summary

Tenet Healthcare is seeking a detail-oriented staff member to manage the full surgery coordination process. You will verify insurance, obtain pre-operative authorizations, and schedule labs and tests, ensuring timely patient flow for surgery.

You will triage candidates, liaise with hospital staff, educate patients on procedures, and coordinate medical clearances and test results per hospital protocol to support smooth operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of one year working in medical insurance or healthcare related field; prior surgery scheduling experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to and supports the mission, policies, and procedures of Tenet Physician Resources.
• Adheres to the Tenet HIPAA Compliance Plan and Privacy Standards Confidentiality Agreement.
• Demonstrates support for the Corporate Compliance Program and follows applicable laws and policies.
• Triage surgical candidates as required by the physicians.
• Work with hospital personnel to obtain information needed for surgery scheduling.
• Educate patients about planned surgery.
• Verify insurance information in the system and obtain necessary authorizations prior to surgery.
• Coordinate with surgeons to obtain medical clearances and preoperative testing as required.
• Confirm and reschedule return appointments; notify management of issues.
• Provide assistance to administrative or clinical staff as needed.
