Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a Surgical Coordinator to manage all aspects of tests, procedures, and surgeries under supervision. You will schedule, verify demographics, obtain precertifications, and ensure proper preparation and documentation.

You will coordinate with physicians, labs, and departments, track cases, support postoperative care, and collaborate with coding for accurate billing while delivering excellent patient service.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to learn quickly and adapt in a changing environment
• 2 years of progressive experience in a medical office preferred
• Proficient in medical terminology and HIPAA guidelines
• Surgical coding knowledge (CPT and ICD-10) preferred
• CPR certification is preferred

Responsabilités

• Coordinates all aspects of tests, procedures and surgeries under the direction and supervision of the Practice Supervisor or Manager and physician(s) in an efficient manner.
• Schedules procedures in a prompt, polite, and helpful manner; follows facility guidelines and booking sheets; ensures proper equipment for surgery.
• Verifies patient demographics, logs insurance information, verifies coverage and obtains precertification from payer.
• Coordinates procedure appointments with physician calendars and communicates preparation information to patients.
• Arranges cross-coverage with other departments and ensures pre-op procedures are followed with documentation and medical clearances.
• Maintains block time guidelines at each hospital and coordinates postoperative care.
• Obtains surgical billing information and works with coding to post and reconcile charges.
• Tracks all procedures, testing, and pathology results.
• Provides excellent customer service and ensures patient dignity in surgical and financial matters.
