Job summary

Capitol Surgeons is seeking a Surgical Scheduler/Medical Assistant to coordinate surgical appointments, verify insurance, obtain pre-authorizations, and manage patient communications. The role includes limited clinical interaction with patients prior to surgery during clinic hours.

Ideal candidates have 1 year of surgical scheduling experience, strong EMR knowledge (EPIC/ECW), and proficiency in CPT/ICD coding. Positions are based in Germantown and Silver Spring with full-time hours.

Qualifications

• Bilingual English/Spanish required.
• Strong understanding of medical terminology and CPT/ICD coding.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate surgical appointments for four surgeons.
• Verify insurance coverage and obtain pre-authorizations.
• Confirm and collect patient deposits for DOS procedures.
• Maintain accurate EMR documentation and CPT/ICD coding alignment.
• Communicate pre-op instructions and post-op follow-up to patients.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, billing, and facility schedulers to resolve conflicts.
