Job summary

Henry Ford Health in Michigan is seeking a Surgical Scheduler to join the Orthopedic/Sports Medicine team at St. John Health Center in Chesterfield. The role focuses on coordinating surgery schedules, optimizing use of operating rooms, and working with physician offices to meet patient needs.

You will ensure accurate demographic, billing, and insurance data in the EMR, assign suites and equipment, reschedule as needed, and help prevent delays. Full-time opportunity.

Qualifications

• 1 year of applicable cumulative job-specific experience.
• Minimum of two years in a healthcare setting.
• Familiar with insurances/authorizations.

Responsibilities

• Work with physician offices to gather information needed to schedule surgeries consistent with department guidelines and accommodating physicians’ requests and patients’ needs.
• Assign operating suites and equipment and block times to maximize efficient use of resources.
• Ensure necessary demographic, billing, and insurance information is entered into electronic medical records and coordinate with Patient Admitting as needed to prevent delays in scheduled surgery.
• Reschedule surgeries as needed to accommodate emergencies or other unanticipated events.
