Job summary

Carle Health is seeking an experienced RN for the NT7 Digestive Surgical Unit. The unit provides care for acute and chronic digestive surgical patients in a high-acuity environment with a 1:4-6 nurse-to-patient ratio and specialized post-operative treatments.

The team collaborates with surgical residents and OMFS, supported by educators and supervisors to ensure patient safety and education, while offering a $10,000 sign-on bonus for external applicants and relocation incentives.

Qualifications

• Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in good standing; Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Performs all responsibilities and duties required by unit; follows unit standards and care plans.
• Maintains up-to-date and accurate nursing documentation for the healthcare team.
• Completes initial patient assessment and develops an appropriate plan of care.
• Implements plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient procedures; modifies plan based on evaluation.
• Ensures patient and employee safety by identifying and addressing hazards and incidents.
• Communicates with team to resolve issues; provides feedback to support colleagues’ development.
• Identifies learning needs and takes initiative to pursue solutions.
• Fulfills departmental competencies and participates in ongoing education.
• Provides post-operative care for complex surgical patients including wound and ostomy care.
• Collaborates with surgical residency and OMFS teams to ensure coordinated care.
