Job summary

Carle Health is seeking an RN for the NT7 Digestive Surgical Unit in Illinois. The unit handles acute and chronic digestive surgical cases, including bariatric patients, with a 1:4–6 nurse-to-patient ratio and 1:3 for advanced care patients.

A $10,000 sign-on bonus is offered to external applicants with a 3-year commitment. Responsibilities include post-operative care, wound management, ostomies, and collaboration with surgical teams.

Qualifications

• Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in Illinois with active license (IDFPR).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Experience in post-operative care and complex wound management preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform admission assessment and develop plan of care aligned with unit standards.
• Provide post-operative care for complex surgical patients and monitor vital signs.
• Manage wound care, wound vacs, ostomies, drains, and tracheostomies as needed.
• Ensure documentation accuracy and communicate care plans with the healthcare team.
• Collaborate with surgical residents and OMFS team to optimize patient outcomes.
