Job summary

MemorialCare is seeking an RN First Assistant (RNFA) for the Surgery Services (OR) department in Laguna Hills, CA. The role supports the surgeon intra-operatively and may serve as OR Circulator or Scrub when not assigned to RNFA duties.

Current CA RN license and RNFA certification required. This full-time position offers a $10,000 signing bonus for external hires, with a comprehensive benefits package and a pay range of $66.36–$104.15 per hour.

Qualifications

• Current California RN License required.
• Bachelor’s degree in nursing or Master’s preferred.
• NPI Number from NPPES required.
• One plus years of RNFA experience preferred; in lieu, completion of an RNFA training program with preceptorship.
• Ability to fulfill the on-call requirement of the department.
• Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
• Current American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required.
• Current Nurse Operating Room Certification (CNOR) required.
• Current RNFA Certification required.
• Specialty Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes the nursing process and AORN standards as a framework for patient care.
• Demonstrates leadership and acts as a liaison between the surgical suite and hospital to maintain continuity of care during intra-operative phase.
• Prioritizes essential functions to focus on the needs of the surgical patient.
• Demonstrates knowledge of the clinical information system and applies it to patient documentation.
• Mentors new staff members.
• Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality of information.
• Provides excellent patient-family communication and manages expectations.
• Exhibits tact, sensitivity and discretion.
• Applies job-specific competencies and knowledge of surgical anatomy and OR techniques.
• Assists with coagulation, sutures, muscles, fascia and subcutaneous tissue.
• Functions as OR Circulator or Scrub when not in RNFA role.
• Arrives on time and adheres to company policies.
