Job summary

Methodist Hospital Landmark in San Antonio is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for Pre/Post Holding on days shift. You will evaluate patients before surgery, educate families, manage perioperative preparations, and participate in surgical site verification.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited diploma, associates, or baccalaureate degree registered nursing program.
• Minimum of six (6) months of clinical experience as a licensed Registered Nurse.
• Current Registered Nurse License in the State of Texas or Multi-State Compact License; TX license within 60 days of hire.
• Basic Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
• Provide patient and family education surrounding the procedure and peri-operative process.
• Prepare patients for surgery including IV therapy and preoperative medications.
• Participate in surgical site verification and universal protocols.
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies.
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care with evidence-based practices.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to support care.
• Apply the nursing process and document changes in condition.
