Job summary

Methodist Children's Hospital, part of Methodist Healthcare, is seeking a Registered Nurse II for Pre/Post Day Surgery in San Antonio. The role supports pediatric perioperative care, patient assessment, education, and collaboration with surgeons, nurses, and staff.

On-call duties may apply, with emphasis on safety and evidence-based practice. A 6 months RN acute care experience is required, with BCLS and RN licensure.

Qualifications

• RNs must be licensed and able to perform nursing duties.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• Associate Degree in Nursing or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery
• Provide patient and family education surrounding the procedure and peri-operative process
• Prepare patients with intravenous therapy and preoperative medications
• Perform surgical site verification and universal protocols
• Respond to patient emergencies and ensure high-quality, evidence-based care
• Collaborate with physicians, surgeons, and surgical staff to optimize workflow
• Document patient condition and care provided and educate families about follow-up measures
