Job summary

The University of Iowa's Department of Pathology is seeking a Laboratory Technician II to perform complex technical procedures, maintain the laboratory, and support Surgical Pathology operations. The role includes processing specimens, clerical tasks, and routine maintenance with a Monday–Friday schedule (9:30 AM–6:30 PM).

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma with two years of relevant lab experience or a CLA certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma plus two years of related laboratory experience, including one year as a Laboratory Technician I or equivalent level experience, or
• Certified laboratory Assistant (CLA) certification, or
• Any combination of related post high school education and experience which totals two years.

Responsibilities

• Accessions, handles, and triages specimens for Surgical Pathology.
• Uses laboratory equipment.
• Follows department and laboratory policies.
• Prepares reagents and chemicals.
• Performs other projects and tasks as assigned.
