Qualifications

• Willingness to participate in teleconferences and continuing education.
• Ability to train pathologists’ assistant students.
• Minimum five years of lead experience in a surgical pathology grossing environment.
• Demonstrated customer service skills.
• ASCP certified.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication.
• Bachelor’s degree in biological science or related field.
• Proficient with Excel, Outlook and Word.
• Ability to manage workload pace.
• Ability to communicate with residents and faculty.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily operations of the Gross Room Department.
• Supervise staff including hiring, training, corrective action, and competencies.
• Ensure accurate, timely, and safe processing of all surgical pathology specimens.
• Develop and implement quality control programs to ensure reliability of testing procedures.
• Prepare and maintain applicable records. Establish and maintain instrument procedures.
• Assist in instrument troubleshooting and perform some technical tasks.
