Job summary

Houston Methodist seeks a Surgical Pathology Technician to perform gross examination and description under the direction of a Pathologist. This role handles gross-only specimens and small biopsies, with reporting to HM management as applicable.

Qualified candidates hold a Bachelor's degree in medical technology or related field and possess strong English communication, safety, and teamwork skills. Prior pathology lab experience is preferred to support accurate documentation and specimen

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or related field is required.
Strong English reading/writing skills to ensure patient and staff safety.
Knowledge of lab safety, QA/QC, and HIPAA compliant practices.

Responsibilities

Perform gross examination and documentation of gross-only specimens and small biopsies as directed by Pathologist.
Maintain accurate records and prepare specimens for testing and archiving.
Photograph specimens for documentation when required and manage workflow under Pathologist supervision.
Coordinate with pathology team to ensure timely processing and reporting.
