Job summary

The Pathology Assistant role at Cleveland Clinic Weston Hospital supports a leading-edge laboratory team within its Pathology-Weston Department. The position is PRN with shifts 6:00 a.m.–11:00 a.m. or 3:00 p.m.–8:00 p.m., including weekend availability, based at Florida Weston Hospital.

You will oversee specimen accessioning, gross description, dissection guidance, and coordination with pathologists to ensure accurate processing and reporting in accordance with CLIA and CAP standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Science required.
• Pathologist's Assistant training program or Histotechnician (HT) ASCP certification required.
• Five years of clinical experience.
• Three years of experience as a surgical pathology tech.

Responsibilities

• Perform surgical desk functions following the guidelines of surgical pathology techs.
• Coordinate the efforts of Manager/Director/Pathologists and departments to meet needs.
• Examine, describe, dissect and section biopsy and surgical specimens under staff pathologist.
• Determine areas for gross sampling and prepare sections for analysis.
• Analyze specimens and document measurements, weights and descriptions.
• Maintain records, equipment and compliance with CLIA/CAP regulations.
