Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Weston Hospital, part of the Florida region, provides leading pathology services and patient-centered care. A Histologist roles accession and process tissue, cytology, and related specimens to support pathologists and care teams.

The position requires immunocytochemical staining, preparation for frozen sections, and strict adherence to safety and quality controls. Shifts run 11:30 a.m.–8:00 p.m. or 9:30 a.m.–7:00 p.m. with weekend requirements.

Qualifications

• High School education is required.
• Current license in the State of Florida at the Histology or Cytology Technologist level.

Responsibilities

• Process cytology, biopsy, and aspirate specimens as received from patient care areas.
• Perform immunocytochemical stains and assist pathologists with tissue processing for immediate frozen sections.
• Arrange submission of tissue and gynecological specimens to reference laboratories.
• Report pertinent information to pathologists, physicians, or supervisors.
• Maintain clean, organized work areas and stock supplies; follow safety procedures and PPE.
• Follow procedures and manuals; troubleshoot instruments and ensure reliable results.
• Operate instrumentation and perform maintenance checks, startups, and shutdowns.
• Answer phones, greet customers, and provide consults to pathologists, physicians, and nursing staff.
• Adhere to quality control policies and ensure controls are within limits before reporting results.

Education

Associate’s Degree or higher in Histotechnology OR Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Biological Science

HT/L (ASCP) certification
