Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Pathology required; Master’s in Pathologists’ Assistant preferred.
• Not accepting experience in lieu of degree.
• 2–3 years of related experience required; licenses/credentials as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Dictates gross descriptions and dissects surgical specimens.
• Selects tissue sections for microscopic examination.
• Instructs residents and PA students on gross description, dissection and sampling.
• Assists with tissue collection for quality control, teaching, research, and tissue/tumor banking.
• Evaluates tissue for frozen section analysis and prepares, cuts, and stains frozen sections for telepathology review.
• Oversees specimen storage in the surgical pathology area and maintains records.
• Verifies proper legal authorization before performing postmortem examinations.
