Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health in Jersey City is seeking an OR Tech I to join the Operating Room team at Jersey City Medical Center. You will scrub for diverse cases and collaborate with surgeons and RNs to ensure patient safety and efficient procedural flow. Shift is 3:00 pm – 11:00 pm, full time, with alternating weekends, holidays, and call.

Eligibility requires OR tech training, NBSTSA certification, and BLS. RWJBarnabas Health offers a broad benefits package and opportunities within a premier health

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of an OR Technician training program required.
• 2–3 years of experience preferred.
• Proficient scrub skills across robotics, vascular, endovascular, neurovascular, general, thoracic, neuro/spine, orthopedics, trauma.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to multitask and work independently.

Responsibilities

• A member of the surgical team, under direction of the RN, delivering patient care before, during, and after surgery.
• Assumes appropriate responsibility in coordinating with surgeon and RN during procedures.

Education

High School diploma or equivalent

Completion of OR Technician training program

2–3 years of experience

Scrub knowledge across service lines: robotics, vascular, endovascular, neurovascular, general, thoracic, neuro/spine, orthopedics, trauma

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Job Overview: A member of the surgical team, acting under the direction of a Registered Nurse, who works with the surgeon and RN in delivering patient care and assuming appropriate responsibility before, during and after surgery.

Must be flexible, able to multitask and be able to work independently
