RWJBarnabas Health in New Jersey is hiring an OR Tech I to join the Operating Room team at a Jersey City facility. The role involves assisting with patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and surgeon, and supporting procedures from prep to post-op.

Requirements include a High School diploma or equivalent, completion of an OR technician program, 2-3 years’ experience, CST/NBSTSA certifications, and BLS. Evening shift 3:00 pm - 11:00 pm; full-time with alternating weekends.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of OR Technician training program required.
• 2-3 years of OR experience preferred.
• Knowledge of scrubbing across service lines (robotics, vascular, endovascular, neurovascular, general, thoracic, neuro/spine, orthopedics, trauma).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to multitask and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Assist in delivering patient care under direction of a Registered Nurse.
• Collaborate with surgeon and RN during operative procedures.
• Maintain sterile field and prepare instruments and rooms before/during/after surgery.

Pay Range: $31.41 - $38.42 per hour

The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Overview

A member of the surgical team, acting under the direction of a Registered Nurse, who works with the surgeon and RN in delivering patient care and assuming appropriate responsibility before, during and after surgery.

Qualifications

Required:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Completion of an OR Technician training program
• 2 - 3 years of experience
• Must have strong knowledge with skill being able to scrub the following service lines: robotics, vascular, endovascular, neurovascular, general, thoracic, neuro/spine, orthopedics, complex plastic cases and trauma
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (verbally and written)
• Must be able to make calls. Must be flexible, able to multitask and be able to work independently

Certifications and Licenses Required:

• Certified Surgical Technician, required
• NBSTSA Certification, required
• Current BLS Healthcare Provider Certification required with American Heart Association

Scheduling Requirements

• 3:00 pm - 11:00 pm
• Full Time
• Alternating Weekends, holidays and call coverage
