Job summary

Jersey City Medical Center is seeking an OR Tech I for the Operating Room team. This role supports surgeons and the RN, assists in perioperative care and maintains sterile conditions during procedures.

The candidate should have a high school diploma or equivalent and completion of an OR technician program, plus 2–3 years of OR experience. The position is full-time with evening hours and alternating weekends.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of an OR Technician training program is required.
• 2–3 years of experience in a surgical setting is required.
• Must be able to scrub service lines including robotics, vascular, endovascular, neurovascular, general, thoracic, neuro/spine, orthopedics, complex plastic and trauma.

Responsibilities

• Deliver patient care as a member of the surgical team under direction of a Registered Nurse.
• Work with the surgeon and RN before, during and after surgery to ensure proper care.
• Maintain sterile technique and assist during procedures as directed.

Pay Range: $31.41- $38.42per hour

Pay Transparency:

The above reflects the anticipated hourly wage range for this position if hired to work in New Jersey.

The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate’s educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Overview:

A member of the surgical team, acting under the direction of a Registered Nurse, who works with the surgeon and RN in delivering patient care and assuming appropriate responsibility before, during and after surgery.

Qualifications:

Required:

• HighSchooldiplomaorequivalent
• Completion of an OR Technician training program
• 2 – 3 years of experience
• Must have strong knowledge with skill being able to scrub the following service lines: robotics, vascular, endovascular, neurovascular, general, thoracic, neuro/spine, orthopedics, complex plastic cases and trauma
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (verbally and written)
• Must be able to make calls. Must be flexible, able to multitask and be able to work independently

Certifications and Licenses Required:

• Certified Surgical Technician, required
• NBSTSA Certification, required
• Current BLS Healthcare Provider Certification required with American Heart Association

Scheduling Requirements:

• 3:00 pm – 11:00 pm
• Full Time
• Alternating Weekends, holidays and call coverage
