Job summary

North Shore Medical Center is seeking a Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Surgical Services team. The Per Diem role includes pre-, intra-, and post-operative duties in a fast-paced OR environment, with on-call and rotating weekends.

You will support patient care before, during, and after procedures with a focus on safety and teamwork. The ideal candidate holds an active Florida RN license, BLS, and at least one year of acute care RN experience, with preferred ACLS and CNOR credentials

Qualifications

• Active Florida RN license (or eligibility) and current BLS certification.
• Minimum 1 year of acute care RN experience.
• ACLS and CNOR certifications are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Pre-Operative: conduct assessments, verify history, allergies, and planned procedures.
• Pre-Operative: educate patients and families on surgical processes.
• Intra-Operative: circulate and/or scrub nurse; maintain sterile environment.
• Intra-Operative: collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, and technologists.
• Intra-Operative: monitor status and document intra-operative findings.
• Post-Operative: transfer to PACU and ensure thorough hand-off communication.
• Post-Operative: support post-operative evaluations and care quality.
• Additional Duties: adhere to policies, participate in training, and communicate effectively.
