Brown University Health is seeking a Physician Assistant to support pre-, intra-, and post-operative patient care under a physician’s supervision at Newport Hospital in Rhode Island. Responsibilities include assisting in surgeries, managing perioperative care, taking histories and performing physicals, and drafting operative/discharge documentation.

The role requires an active Rhode Island PA registration, strong analytical and interpersonal skills, and adherence to surgical attire policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Biology and two years of graduate study in an AMA approved Physician’s Assistant program.
• Current registration as Physician’s Assistant in the State of Rhode Island.
• An extremely high level of analytical ability to apply post-surgical training to the treatment of patients.
• Good interpersonal skills to deal effectively with patients and nursing personnel.
• Demonstrates knowledge to provide care to patients throughout the life span with aging, development, and cultural considerations.
• Compliance with surgical attire policy.
• Performs usual closure as directed by the surgeon; sutures the peritoneum, fascia, subcutaneous tissue, and skin.

Responsabilités

• Under physician supervision, performs medical procedures and assists in surgical procedures.
• Takes histories and performs physicals.
• Assists in pre-, intra-, and post-operative patient management.
• Performs wound care and drafts discharge summaries.
• Participates in call coverage as First Assist for OR and OB for C-sections.
