Job summary

UNC Health Care’s Surgical Observation Unit in Chapel Hill is seeking a Nursing Assistant I (per diem) to provide routine direct and indirect patient care under RN/physician supervision. Rotating 12-hour day/night shifts with weekend/holiday rotation; minimum 12 hours every 2 weeks.

Required: NC Nursing Assistant I, BLS certification, fluent English and basic computer skills; prefer 6 months CNA experience. Per diem position with onsite work and state benefits.

Qualifications

• Fluent in verbal and written English.
• Able to develop basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with routine examinations and procedures and procure equipment during emergencies.
• Observe, collect, document patient information and report changes to RN/physician.
• Provide direct personal care for activities of daily living per plan of care.
• Transport patients and supplies; assist in orientation of new staff and students.
• Reinforce patient education materials and ensure patient understanding.
