UNC Health Care System in Chapel Hill, NC, is seeking a Nursing Assistant I on a per diem basis to provide direct and indirect patient care in the Surgical Observation Unit. The role involves rotating 12-hour day and night shifts, including weekends and holidays, with on-site assignments.

Requirements include NC Nursing Assistant I licensure, BLS certification, and a preference for 6 months of CNA experience.

Qualifications

• Fluent in verbal and written English language and able to develop basic computer skills.
• Prefer six (6) months of nursing assistant experience.
• Nursing Assistant I certification with NC DHHS.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsabilités

• Assist physicians and other health care providers with routine examinations and procedures, as well as procurement of equipment and supplies during emergency situations.
• In psychiatric settings, aid patients in reality orientation and participate in behavior modification plans.
• Observe, collect, and document patient information and report significant changes to RN/physician.
• Assist patients and families during admission, orientation, and discharge.
• Provide care/treatments per plan of care including vitals, wound care, glucose checks, and ROM exercises.
• Provide direct personal care for activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, feeding, and ambulation.
• Perform indirect care: cleaning, restocking, transporting, orientation, and clerical tasks.
• Reinforce patient teaching and distribute education materials.
