Job summary

UNC Health Care in Chapel Hill is seeking a Clinical Support Technician II (Nursing Assistant II + Clerical) for the Surgical Observation Unit. This 36-hour/week role includes 12-hour rotating shifts, weekend and holiday rotation, and involves assisting with patient care, transport, and unit clerical duties.

The position offers extensive benefits and requires English fluency along with clerical and nursing assistant experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; higher-level degree may satisfy this requirement.
• One year of clerical or customer service experience.
• Three months of nursing assistant experience.
• Nursing Assistant I/II licensure and BLS certification as per NC DHHS.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians and other health care providers with routine examinations and procedures and procurement of equipment and supplies.
• Review patient care documentation, report changes to a nurse or physician.
• Perform clerical tasks: organize workload, greet visitors, research information, review and revise orders, answer calls, transcribe physician orders, maintain records.
• Provide administrative and clerical support including PI audits and data entry.
• Provide clinical support: clean areas, troubleshoot equipment, transport patients and supplies, assist orientation of new staff and students.
• Provide direct personal care per plan of care: bathing, feeding, vital signs, wound care, UT care, suctioning, dressing changes, and related tasks.
• Reinforce patient teaching and distribute educational materials.
