Job summary

THOM Thomas Hospitals in West Virginia is hiring a part-time Nursing Aide to support a medical-surgical unit. You will observe patients, notify the RN of any changes, assist with admissions, transfers, discharges, and provide basic care including hygiene and vital signs.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or equivalent and Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire. Work is 7a–7p, 24 hours weekly, with rotating weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.
• Prior patient care experience.

Responsibilities

• Observes and reports patient concerns/changes in condition to an RN immediately.
• Assists the RN with admission, transfer, discharge and general patient care duties.
• Records the vital signs, assists in personal hygiene and other patient comfort measures.
• Assists in specimen collection and other activities of assigned patients.
• Maintains a clean and safe environment to help prevent infections and ensure safety.
• Reports necessary equipment repairs to appropriate personnel promptly.
• Prepares patients for examinations and diagnostic procedures.
• Communicates nutrition issues to RN regarding appetite or diet changes.
• Assists department with administrative tasks to support operations.
• Answers patient call bell and relays messages to appropriate personnel.
• Completes annual education related to specialty accreditation as defined by standards.
