Job summary

St. Joseph Medical Center in Houston seeks a Scheduling Coordinator to manage advance level scheduling for surgical and anesthesia procedures, radiology, and outpatient testing. You will coordinate with departments to maximize efficiency and ensure timely patient appointments.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2-3 years of previous hospital experience and/or experience in a hospital scheduling department or physician's appointment coordinator or free standing imaging facility with scheduling background.
• Medical Terminology desired.
• Technical, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills relevant to area in order to effectively communicate with physicians, health team members, patients and families.
• Ability to prioritize work with minimal supervision, in order to independently carry out the duties of the position.
• Basic computer knowledge.
• Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Other certification requirements as defined by the certification policy.

Responsibilities

• Schedule patients for surgical procedures and nonsurgical procedures requiring anesthesia.
• Schedule patients into multiple modalities of radiology and various outpatient testing.
• Coordinate with other departments to ensure scheduling efficiency.
• Answer incoming calls from patients, physicians, and office staff in a timely and professional manner.
• Ensure physician orders are present in the fax server and accessible to SJMC personnel.
• Schedule patients accurately and timely; track no-show patients.
• Follow up on outstanding physician orders and forward prompt pay program orders to Insurance Verification.
• Communicate in a friendly, positive and professional manner; ensure proper privileges for requested cases.
