Job summary

Page Mechanical Group, Inc. is seeking a Surgical First Assistant to support surgeons in complex urologic procedures. Responsibilities include intraoperative assistance, maintaining sterile conditions, and ensuring patient safety throughout the perioperative continuum.

The role requires certification as CSFA or RNFA, Iowa licensing where applicable, and BLS. Prior OR experience is preferred; strong team collaboration and clinical excellence are essential.

Qualifications

• Certification as CSFA or RNFA from NBSTSA/ABSA/NSAA or equivalent.
• Iowa license or certification for surgical assisting or RN-licensure if RN-licensed.
• BLS certification from AHA or Red Cross is required.
• Minimum 1 year OR/surgical experience preferred; 2 years CST strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room and field; sterilize and arrange instruments.
• Assist with patient positioning, skin prep, and draping per surgeon preference.
• Review patient histories and planned procedures with the team.
• Provide intraoperative assistance (suction, retraction, suturing, cautery).
• Anticipate surgeon needs and respond quickly during procedures.
• Maintain aseptic technique and sterile field throughout surgery.
• Monitor patient condition intraoperatively and communicate concerns.
• Assist with safe transfer to recovery and early postoperative care.
• Document procedures and outcomes per policy and state regulations.
• Other duties as assigned.
