Job summary

Summit Health is hiring a Surgical Assistant in Bend, Oregon. The role supports the surgeon in the operating room, ensuring sterile technique, instrument handling, and patient safety throughout procedures.

Required Active BLS, 2–4 years surgical tech experience, and English communication skills. Completion of a Surgical Technologist program is expected; CSFA certification is preferred to join our multidisciplinary team in a patient-centered setting.

Qualifications

• BLS certification required.
• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program.
• Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) preferred.
• 2–4 years’ surgical tech experience; 1–2 years as first assist preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English (oral and written).

Responsibilities

• Position the patient for surgery and assist with draping.
• Assist surgeon by passing instruments and supplies during procedures.
• Control bleeding and manage suction/irrigation as directed.
• Close incisions and apply dressings per protocol.
• Maintain sterile field and proper inventory of supplies.
