Job summary

Jax Spine and Pain Center is seeking a qualified Surgical First Assistant to provide direct intraoperative assistance and support the surgical team during spine procedures. You will help with exposure, retraction, suction, and tissue handling, under the direction of the surgeon.

Responsibilities include suturing, implant placement, and maintaining a sterile field in a fast-paced OR or ambulatory setting. Prior spine OR experience and appropriate certifications are preferred.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of surgical anatomy and sterile technique.
• Ability to anticipate surgeon needs during complex procedures.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced operating room environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct intraoperative assistance to the surgeon during surgery.
• Assist with exposure, retraction, suctioning, and maintaining a clear surgical field.
• Perform suturing, ligation, cauterization, and closure of surgical incisions as directed by the surgeon.
• Assist with placement of surgical implants, instrumentation, and specialized equipment.
• Ensure compliance with sterile techniques and infection control standards.
