Job summary

SSM Health in Shawnee, OK is seeking a skilled Surgical First Assistant to support surgeons across a range of procedures. You will prepare equipment, assist with exposure and suturing, and ensure patient safety throughout the operation.

The ideal candidate has an Associate's degree or clinical certification and at least two years of experience, plus BLS HCP certification and eligibility for ABSA or CSFA credentials. This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position with benefits.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or clinical certification required.
• Two years of experience in a surgical setting.

Responsibilities

• Uses surgical instruments skillfully under surgeon direction to expose the operative area.
• Sutures tissue with appropriate materials and techniques.
• Anticipates and plans individualized patient care based on the procedure.
• Prepares equipment and supplies based on an individualized care plan.
• Performs aspects of various surgical procedures with appropriate planning.
• Demonstrates delegation, problem solving, and team-building; evaluates care.
• Works collaboratively with patients and multidisciplinary team.
• Maintains safety and organized work environment.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
