Job summary

Harrison Memorial Hospital in Cynthiana, KY, seeks a Surgical First Assistant to join the Surgical Services team. The role supports the perioperative process, working with the surgeon before, during, and after procedures to ensure safety and efficiency.

The ideal candidate will have graduation from an accredited SFA or equivalent program, BLS, and OR experience. This is a full-time, day-shift position with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level clinical competency required.
• Experience in perioperative settings preferred.
• Current BLS; ACLS/PALS certifications as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Review patient medical record, consent, and planned procedure.
• Assist with patient positioning, skin prep, and sterile draping.
• Maintain sterile technique and assist surgeon during procedure.
• Assist with wound closure, drains, and specimen labeling.
• Participate in sponge, sharps, and instrument counts; ensure room turnover.
