Mellas, DMD, MS, PLLC, is excited to announce an opening for a dedicated Full-Time Surgical Dental Assistant in our esteemed private periodontal practice located in the vibrant North Scottsdale/Phoenix area. This position requires a committed individual who can provide exceptional patient care and support surgical operations under the guidance of Dr. Mellas. Please note, this is not a remote job. The selected candidate will be working closely with a team of skilled healthcare professionals from Tuesday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM.

- Review and update patient health history regularly to ensure accurate and current information.
- Assist Dr. Mellas during oral and IV sedation procedures as well as various surgical interventions.
- Responsible for the setup and breakdown of operation rooms before and after procedures.
- Ensure all surgical instruments are properly sterilized and organized according to standard safety protocols.
- Perform dental tasks such as taking IO scans or impressions, and pouring up models as required.
- Explain and reiterate treatment plans and options to patients, ensuring they understand their ongoing care process.
- Handle radiological tasks, including taking x-rays and 3-D scans of patients' craniofacial features.
- Manage inventory controls, ensuring all necessary surgical and administrative supplies are stocked and accounted for.
- Coordinate with the front office to schedule continuing care, treatment, and postoperative appointments efficiently.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and contribute to the team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Previous experience as a dental assistant in a surgical setting preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Dentrix software and Dexis imaging systems.
- Must possess certifications in CPR and dental x-ray procedures; certification in IV placement a plus.
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to discuss treatment plans and health concepts clearly.
- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and efficiency.
