Job summary

Cape Cod Hospital is seeking a Nursing Assistant II for the Surgical Day Care unit in Hyannis, MA. The role provides patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, participates in the nursing process, and contributes to plan-of-care implementation.

The position requires current Basic Life Support, completion of an approved Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, EMT, or LPN program (or equivalent military experience), and ability to communicate in English. 40 hours/week, rotating shifts.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
• Successful completion of a Nursing Assistant Program or equivalent.
• Successful completion of a Medical Assistant Program, EMT or LPN program.
• Equivalent clinical Military experience or nursing student enrolled in an accredited program.

Responsibilities

• Participates in the nursing process during delivery of patient care.
• Assists in providing nursing care to patients and collects data under the direction of the Registered Nurse.
• Participates in implementing a formal plan of care under the direction of the Registered Nurse.
• Attends unit staff meetings and mandatory programs.
• Adheres to safety and body fluid policies.
• Maintains up-to-date knowledge appropriate to the age of the patient served.
• Represents the hospital and maintains confidentiality while marketing services.
• Provides service excellence to patients, families, visitors, volunteers and co-workers.
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
• Demonstrates proficiency in Computerized Nursing Informatics and assists in orientation of new staff.
