Job summary

Vance Thompson Vision is seeking a Surgical Counselor to join our Omaha, NE team. This role focuses on educating patients about refractive, laser, and surgical options, and coordinating scheduling with surgeons to deliver outstanding patient care.

The candidate will guide patients through financial discussions and consent processes, respond to inquiries, and contribute to a supportive, team-centered clinic environment committed to excellence.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in a medical office setting preferred.
• Strong communication and customer service skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Educate patients about refractive, laser, and surgical options.
• Schedule procedures and manage calendars for surgeons and patients.
• Explain financial responsibilities and obtain signed consent forms as needed.
• Answer patient inquiries by phone and in person with clarity and professionalism.

You Will Make An Impact By

• Ensuring thorough patient education and counseling about refractive, laser and surgical procedures.
• Scheduling refractive, laser and surgical procedures for patients; oversees maintenance and distribution of schedules.
• Educating patients on financial responsibility, and answers questions on financial documents and ensures patients sign any necessary consent forms.
• Answering patient phone calls regarding questions or concerns.
• Providing other related services to ensure the highest standards of patient care.
• Communicating with supervisor and/or surgeon regarding potential patient concerns
• Making follow-up calls to potential refractive candidates.

You Have

• A high school diploma or equivalent
• Previous experience in a medical office setting preferred
