Job summary

Vance Thompson Vision in Omaha, NE is seeking a Patient Advocate to join our team and ensure smooth patient journeys from scheduling to post-visit follow-up.

You will verify insurance coverage, prepare schedules and appointments, and communicate estimated financial responsibilities to patients while maintaining accurate records and providing exceptional service. This role requires attention to detail, strong communication, and a proactive, compassionate approach.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience with medical scheduling and insurance.

Responsibilities

• Verify insurance coverage prior to patient arrival and determine in-network status.
• Complete insurance verification forms with correct benefit information (deductible, co-pay, coinsurance).
• Prepare surgery schedules and post-operative appointments for patients.
• Provide estimates of financial responsibility to patients.
• Create daily reports verifying in-network status and obtain referrals or authorizations when required.
• Answer patient calls promptly and address concerns.

You Will Make An Impact By

• Verifying insurance coverage prior to patient arrival for evaluation and determining if the clinic or surgery center are in or out of network for patients.
• Completing insurance verification forms with correct benefit information, including deductible, co-pay and/or coinsurance.
• Preparing surgery schedules and scheduling post-operative appointments for patients.
• Providing estimates to patients on financial responsibility.
• Creating daily reports of evaluations to verify insurance is in-network and obtaining referrals and prior authorizations from policies that require it.
• Answering patient phone calls promptly and addressing patient concerns.
• Obtaining proper insurance information and providing fee schedules and insurance information to patients.
• Preparing, maintaining, retrieving, and distributing medical records as needed.
• Ensuring all preoperative testing and documentation is completed prior to procedure.
• Processing Mission Vision and patient assistant program applications for patients.

You Have

• A high school diploma or equivalent
• Previous experience with medical scheduling and insurance
