Job summary

Rothman Orthopaedics in Marlton, NJ is seeking a Surgical Clinical Assistant (SCA) to support physicians with daily administrative and clinical duties, including post-op wound care, suture removal, and pre-admission testing orders.

You will greet patients, prepare exam rooms, manage chart documents, handle calls, orders, and imaging listings, and assist with patient comfort and safety. This role requires CCMA/CRMA/EMT/ATC certification, strong IT skills, and familiarity with EMR systems.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• CCMA/CRMA/EMT/ATC certification active and valid.
• Experience with EMR and order entry/pre-certifications.
• Knowledge of medical office procedures and terminology.
• Proficient computer skills including MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and escort to exam room; prepare for visits.
• Perform pre-certifications for MRI and other orders as needed.
• Document orders, prescriptions, and notes in patient records.
• Clean and autoclave instruments; maintain exam room cleanliness.
• Answer calls, manage voicemails, and coordinate scheduling.

Job Summary:The Surgical Clinical Assistant (SCA) provides assistance to the Physician and Physician's Assistant with daily administrative and clinical duties. Responsibilities include assisting with post-op suture and staple removal, post-op wound care, pre-admissions testing orders, responding to patient calls and messages, and more.Key Accountabilities:Increase patient satisfaction, compliance with schedule prep, voicemail, compliance with policies and procedures, decrease wait times.Responsibilities may include (but are not limited to):Greets patients in the waiting room and escorts them to the exam room.Directs patient to surgery scheduling and/or front desk for checkout.Maintains order, cleanliness, and inventory in the exam room, and prepares exam room for patients to enter.Cleans and autoclaves instruments.Provides and scans proper paperwork to the chart for Physician's review.Records vitals as per Physician's request.Prepares injections for the Physician.Pulls up x-rays, MRI's, CT's, and various studies pertaining to the patient's exam.Assists patient with clothing when necessary.Disposes of bio hazardous waste and sharps according to OSHA regulation, and replaces sharps containers when existing containers are full.Answers telephones in patient areas and provides voicemail coverage for Physician.Requests reports for various facilities for Physicians.Empties and restocks laundry.Scans appointment tracking to identify when patients are ready to be seen by the Physician and directs Physician in patient appointment order.Reviews Physician schedules for chart preparation including ensuring operative reports, dictations, and studies are present in the chart.Completes pre-certifications for MRI's and other Physician orders as necessary.Send Visco Injection authorization request to supplement pre-certification representative.Scans information into patient record (including all Physician orders, prescriptions, etc. on the date of service).Covers other areas in the office when not assigned to a Physician.Attends required meetings and participates on committees as requested.Exemplifies the desired culture and philosophies of the organization.Qualifications:High school diploma or GED minimum education requirementMust be a CCMA, CRMA, EMT, or ATCProfessional license/certification must be active and validKnowledge of medical office procedures and medical terminologyExperience with prior authorizations and order entry requiredComputer skills including, but not limited to, MS Office SuiteExperience with EMR system(s) preferredOffice Hours:Monday - Friday: 8:00am - 4:30pmTotal Hours per Week:40Status:Permanentay Range:Medical Assistant (CCMA/CRMA): $19.00/hr - $25.00/hrEmergency Medical Technician (EMT-A/EMT-B): $19.00/hr - $25.00/hrAthletic Trainer (ATC): $48,000.00/yr - $70,000.00/yrOur Commitment to Employees:Come work at Rothman Orthopaedics!
