Job summary

You will liaise with the Operating Room, Sterile Processing, and Supply Chain to ensure availability and proper storage of instruments and equipment. The role requires excellent organization, attention to detail in inventory management, and cross-department collaboration to guarantee resources are ready for surgical teams.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in a surgical and/or sterile processing setting.
• Knowledge of surgical instruments.
• Knowledge of medical terminology (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Responsible for room turnovers, case cart distribution and transport, and instrument setup needs for the operating room surgical cases.
• Gathers and assembles instruments and equipment for scheduled procedures, ensuring proper instruments have been picked for the cases.
• Obtains additional/missing items needed, preventing case delays, and assists in arranging and tracking borrowed or loaned instrumentation/equipment, communicating to appropriate leadership.
• Uses physician preference cards to identify supplies and equipment needed for scheduled surgical or emergency procedures, and updates preference cards with any necessary changes.
• Reviews scheduled surgical procedures and anticipates issues, needs of the team, and schedules that will require follow-up, discussing these with department leadership and the Circulator in the room.
• Prepares the operating room and supplies for procedures with knowledge of aseptic technique.
