Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a part-time RN for the 4th Surgery Med Surg Unit (45 beds) on weekends, 7a-7p, in Monroe, NC. The role focuses on safe, comprehensive perioperative and post-operative care for adult and geriatric patients, with emphasis on evidence-based practice and patient/family engagement.

The position requires RN licensure, BLS, and a BSN preferred; occasional telehealth considerations may apply. Expect collaboration with the care team and adherence to safety standards.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a Board of Nursing approved nursing education program.
• Active RN license (multi-state compact and/or single-state) with privileges to practice in the state(s) where the RN provides client nursing services.
• BLS certification; additional education, training, certifications, or experience may be required by specialty.
• Note: Telehealth/telenursing requires licensure in the state(s) where the client is located.

Responsibilities

• Engages in unit councils, governance, and quality initiatives to improve care and apply evidence-based practices.
• Uses the nursing process to assess, plan, diagnose, implement, and evaluate nursing care; engage patients and families.
• Monitors patient conditions, adjusts care plans, mobilizes resources, collaborates with the care team to influence outcomes.
• Upholds and promotes a culture of safety.
• Continuously evaluates patient, team, and unit outcomes and takes action as needed.
• May administer medications, treatments, and therapies per clinical protocols and procedures.
• Demonstrates effective communication, feedback, and conflict resolution; delegates appropriately.
• Pursues professional development and maintains certifications.
• Adheres to the ANA Code of Ethics and ethical decision-making; respects interdisciplinary roles.
• Appropriate delegation to RNs, LPNs, and unlicensed personnel.
• Maintains accurate, timely EHR documentation.
• May float to other units or facilities within the service area.
• Provide age-appropriate care and document according to department standards.
