Job summary

UCI Health is seeking a Registration and Scheduling Coordinator to obtain authorizations, verify funding, and schedule patients for surgery. You will respond to patient inquiries and resolve issues to ensure smooth care access.

The role requires experience with hospital registration systems, medical terminology, strong customer service, and knowledge of ICD-9/CPT coding. Weekend, holiday, and evening availability may be required; familiarity with Epic is a plus.

Qualifications

• Experience with a registration or scheduling system in a hospital or clinic.
• Understanding of medical terminology and insurance coverage processes.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication.
• Ability to work weekends, holidays and evenings as required.
• Experience registering patients and familiarity with ICD9/CPT codes.
• Proficiency with MS Office and patient data management.
• Ability to interpret various medical insurance plans and determine coverage.
• Ability to collaborate across health system teams.

Responsibilities

• Obtain authorizations, verify patient funding, and schedule surgery.
• Respond to patient inquiries and resolve identified issues.
• Maintain accurate patient registration and scheduling data.
• Utilize Epic and other systems to manage workflows.
• Support effective coordination with off-site physician practices as needed.
