• Confirm medical history and educate patients on treatments.
• Assist surgeon by passing instruments and suctioning during surgery.
• Document surgical details in the EHR.
• Provide post-operative care instructions and follow-ups.
• Stock operatories and sterilization areas.
• Represent the practice professionally at all times.

The Surgical Assistant plays a critical role in supporting the oral surgeon during procedures by ensuring a safe, efficient, and comfortable experience for patients. This position assists with surgical preparation, chairside support, sterilization, and patient care while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and safety.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Prepare and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment before, during, and after procedures.
• Escort each patient to the operatoryin a timely manner
• Help patients feel comfortable before, during and after treatment
• Assistin preparing patients for surgery and helpmonitorvital signs and anesthesia levels
• Confirm with medical history with patient and make any necessary changes needed
• Confirm the patient is aware of and educated on the treatment being performed
• Assistthe oral surgeon by passing instruments, suctioning, and providing any necessary materials during surgery.
• Accurately document patient information and surgical details into the patient’s electronic health record (EHR).
• Assistwith post-operative care instructions and ensure proper follow-up.
• Stock alloperatoriesand designated sterilization area(s).
• Must alwaysrepresentthe practice in a professional, pleasant, and cooperative manner.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Mustmaintaincertification and/or license renewals as required by the state.
• Mustexcel inforward thinking toanticipatethe needs of the patient and our dental team.
• May berequiredto travel between office locations. Must be insurable by the company’s insurance.
• Must be CPR Certified
• Dexterity and manual skillsrequiredfor handling surgical instruments andassistingwith procedures.
