Job summary

Signature Dental Implants & Oral Surgery is seeking a skilled Surgical Assistant to join our well-established team. You will support the oral surgeon with instrument handling, patient care, and safe surgical preparation in a patient-centered practice.

Responsibilities include sterilization, chairside assistance, EHR documentation, and ensuring a professional clinical environment. Some travel between offices and ongoing certification renewals are required.

Qualifications

  • Must maintain certification and/or license renewals as required by the state.
  • Must excel in forward thinking to anticipate the needs of the patient and our dental team.
  • May be required to travel between office locations. Must be insurable by the company’s insurance.
  • CPR certified is required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment before, during, and after procedures.
  • Escort each patient to the operatory in a timely manner
  • Help patients feel comfortable before, during and after treatment
  • Assist in preparing patients for surgery and help monitor vital signs and anesthesia levels
  • Confirm with medical history with patient and make any necessary changes
  • Confirm the patient is aware of and educated on the treatment being performed
  • Assist the oral surgeon by passing instruments, suctioning, and providing any necessary materials during surgery.
  • Accurately document patient information and surgical details into the patient’s electronic health record (EHR).
  • Assist with post-operative care instructions and ensure proper follow-up.
  • Stock all operatories and designated sterilization area(s).
  • Must always represent the practice in a professional, pleasant, and cooperative manner.

The Surgical Assistant plays a critical role in supporting the oral surgeon during procedures by ensuring a safe, efficient, and comfortable experience for patients. This position assists with surgical preparation, chairside support, sterilization, and patient care while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and safety.

Your responsibilities will include:
