Job summary

The University of Chicago Medicine is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (APN/PA) to support General Surgery and Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery. You will participate in clinics, perioperative care, and bedside procedures across multiple locations with a focus on patient education and high-quality care.

Responsibilities include assisting in breast and reconstructive procedures, pre/postoperative planning, and ensuring accurate charting and care plans under supervision.

Qualifications

• Education: college degree required; licensure in Illinois.
• Clinical experience: minimum 2 years in related field.
• Illinois licensure/registration required; MSO privileging eligibility.
• ARC-PA accredited PA program preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supports surgical clinics and Breast Center at multiple locations.
• Assists with counseling for genetic testing and orders where needed.
• Assists in plastic surgery procedures including mastectomies and reconstructions.
• Performs General Surgery procedures in clinic (e.g., cyst/abscess care).
• Prepares charts for clinic and assists in operative scheduling.
• Provides independent clinical care under physician supervision.
