Job summary

HCA Healthcare Florida South Shore Hospital in Brandon, FL seeks an Advanced Practice Provider (PA/NP) to support colorectal and general surgery with a balanced mix of clinic, OR first assist, and inpatient care. You’ll work closely with surgeons and a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive perioperative management.

Qualified candidates are PA-C or NP with Florida licensure and surgical experience, including OR first assist.

Qualifications

• Physician Assistant (PA-C) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) with current Florida licensure.
• Surgical experience (colorectal or general surgery ideal).
• OR first assist experience.
• Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and team-oriented mindset.

Responsibilities

• Assist with surgical scheduling and perioperative coordination.
• Perform preoperative evaluations and workups with labs, imaging, and clearances.
• Provide patient education on procedures, recovery, and expectations.
• Serve as first assist during colorectal and general surgery procedures.
• Conduct hospital rounds, evaluate patients, and contribute to daily care planning.
• Manage postoperative inpatient care and wound care.
• Conduct outpatient visits, postoperative evaluations, and ongoing management.
• Triage calls and coordinate referrals; provide medical guidance and escalate when needed.
• Prescribe medications, order and interpret diagnostic studies, and document in EMR.
