Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in the United States is hiring a skilled Veterinary Technician to join our Surgery department. You will assist in patient procedures, monitor anesthesia, and manage the full perioperative process from pre-op to recovery.

The pay range is $24.93–$44.91 per hour, depending on experience and progression through our competency assessment tool. Candidates with VTS credentialing are eligible for compensation commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist in patient procedures using knowledge of anesthesia and analgesia related protocols and procedures, including formulating anesthetic plans tailored to individual patient needs.
• Monitor anesthesia, trouble shoot anesthetic complications, and make appropriate interventions.
• Intravenous catheter placement, endotracheal intubation, and anesthetic equipment use and maintenance.
• Perform physical exam; accurately counts pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
• Understand normal vital parameters and alerts doctor when abnormal.
• Set up intravenous fluids and CRI's, operate all brands of fluid pumps and can trouble shoot errors.
• Continuous expansion of knowledge and skillset: advanced anesthetic skills including epidurals, difficult airway intubation, and critical case management.
• Comfortable with medical math.
• Ability to take patient through entire procedure from start to finish (pre-op, monitoring, post-op, and recovery)
• Manage appointments, obtain histories, medical record keeping, invoicing, patient discharges, etc.
• Monitor patient response to fluid therapy including signs of overload.
