BluePearl Pet Hospital in Summerville, SC is hiring a Surgery Veterinary Technician to join our Surgery Team. The position provides nursing care to stable patients, handles anesthesia-related tasks, and supports a rotating on-call schedule after training.

We offer a competitive pay range of $20.00–$40.00 per hour, dependent on experience and our competency leveling system. A two-year minimum veterinary hospital background is preferred, with opportunities to grow within a collaborative care team.

• Two or more years of experience in a veterinary hospital.
• Experience with anesthesia is required.
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a team.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care.
• Place peripheral intravenous catheters in cephalic vein.
• Perform physical exams and monitor vital parameters.
• Set up and administer intravenous fluids, including subcutaneous fluids.
• Operate intravenous fluid pumps and troubleshoot errors.
• Monitor patient response to fluid therapy and alert the doctor as needed.

BluePearl Pet Hospital i s hiring an exceptional Veterinary Technician to join our Surgery Team.

Pay: $20.00 - $40.00 / hour

This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through our competency leveling system.

A BluePearl Surgery Technician is responsible for some post-operative client communication and must be able to work independently while contributing to a larger team goal. Prefer to have a minimum of two or more years of experience in a veterinary hospital. A rotating on call schedule is required once training has been completed.

Experience with anesthesia is required

As a Surgery Veterinary Technician, you will:

• Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
• Utilize their ability to place peripheral intravenous catheter in cephalic vein.
• Performs physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
• Understands normal vital parameters and alerts doctor when abnormal.
• Able to set up intravenous fluids.
• Administers subcutaneous fluids.
• Can operate all brands of intravenous fluid pumps and can troubleshoot errors.
• Able to disconnect and connect patient from intravenous fluids aseptically.
• Ability to monitor patient response to fluid therapy including signs of overload.
