Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring a Surgery Veterinary Technician to join the team. Pay ranges from $20.00 to $40.00 per hour, with a possible sign-on bonus up to $1,000. Two+ years of veterinary hospital experience and rotating on-call after training are preferred.

Responsibilities include patient history review, pre-anesthetic exams, nursing care, anesthesia management, IV placement, and postoperative monitoring. Join a team focused on exceptional pet care and continuous learning.

Qualifications

• Two+ years of veterinary hospital experience preferred.
• Ability to work independently as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Review patient history, weight, and health status.
• Perform pre-anesthetic exams (vitals, bloodwork prep, radiographs).
• Provide nursing care to stable patients per hospital standards.
• Place peripheral IV catheter in cephalic vein.
• Conduct physical exams: vitals, mucous membranes, temp, respiration.
• Induce, monitor, and recover patients from anesthesia.
• Troubleshoot and treat adverse anesthetic events with clinician support.
• Place NG tubes and sampling catheters.
• Blood type and cross match; administer blood products.
• Monitor vital signs and alert doctor to abnormalities.
• Set up and manage IV fluids; administer subcutaneous fluids.
• Operate IV fluid pumps and troubleshoot errors.
• Disconnect/connect patient to IV fluids aseptically.
• Monitor fluid therapy and signs of overload.
• CVT certification preferred.
