Job summary

MedVet in Cincinnati is seeking a Surgery Veterinary Assistant to join a fast-paced surgical team. The role requires assisting surgeons, managing records, and coordinating client communications, with a Tuesday-Friday 7a-5:30p schedule and rotating weekends.

The ideal candidate has veterinary experience, strong calculation skills for drugs and CRIs, and the ability to work flexible hours while delivering high-quality patient care and clear post-operative instructions.

Qualifications

• Prior veterinary experience required.
• Proficient in calculations (drugs, CRI, conversions).
• Flexible with hours and able to work extra hours when needed.
• Ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Manage appointments, take histories, and maintain records.
• Fill medications, enter charges, and schedule appointments.
• Create patient releases and discuss treatment plans with clients.
• Prepare patients for surgery and assist with procedures.
• Perform blood draws and submit labs.
• Ensure documentation is accurate and complete.
• Clean operating rooms and sterilize instruments.
