Job summary

MedVet in Cincinnati, OH is seeking a Surgery Veterinary Assistant to support the surgical team and clients throughout the patient journey. This role involves preparing patients for anesthesia, assisting surgeons, managing records, and coordinating post-operative care under supervision.

Qualifications

• Prior veterinary experience required, surgery experience desired.
• Proficient in calculations (drugs, constant rate infusions, unit conversions, etc.).
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Manage appointments, obtain patient histories, medical record keeping, invoicing, patient discharges, etc
• Fill medications, enter charges and maintain accurate medical records, schedule appointments
• Create patient releases, navigate client conversations around treatment plans and financial obligations
• Prep patients for surgery, including shaving, scrubbing and positioning, assist with intubation and radiographs
• Proficiently perform blood draws and submit bloodwork
• Ensure documentation is accurate and complete
• Opening, turning over and cleaning operating rooms, as well as cleaning instruments and wrapping packs
