MedVet is seeking a Surgery Veterinary Assistant to join our fast-paced surgical team. You will liaise between surgeons and clients, manage patient records, and support postoperative care in a busy hospital.

Ideal candidates have prior veterinary experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently while ensuring patient safety and comfort. This role includes benefits and commitment to continued education.

Qualifications

• Prior veterinary experience is required.
• Strong communication and patient-care skills are essential.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with calculations (drugs, IV infusions, unit conversions) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage appointments, obtain patient histories, medical record keeping, invoicing, patient discharges.
• Fill medications, enter charges and maintain accurate medical records, schedule appointments.
• Create patient releases, discuss treatment plans and financial obligations with clients.
• Prepare patients for surgery, including shaving, scrubbing, positioning; assist with intubation and radiographs.
• Conduct blood draws and submit bloodwork.
• Ensure documentation is accurate and complete.
• Open, turnover and cleaning of operating rooms, and cleaning instruments and wrapping packs.
