Job summary

Cedars-Sinai is seeking a Surgery Scheduler to support physicians and clinical staff in administrative tasks and to manage day-to-day scheduling for patient surgeries and related procedures.

The role involves coordinating patient education, preparing charts, and ensuring proper authorization and insurance verification. Ideal candidates have at least 6 months of relevant scheduling or patient service experience in a medical setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Six (6) months of Surgery Scheduler, Patient Service Representative, Medical Assistant or related experience in an outpatient or inpatient clinical, ambulatory service center or hospital setting required.

Responsibilities

• Handles scheduling for patient including pre-op and post-op appointments, verifying insurance, acquiring surgery authorizations and health clearance.
• Reviews risks and benefits of surgery with patient and facilitates education classes prior to surgery as advised by physician.
• Primary point of contact for patient; liaison with physician, patient, and departments.
• Ensures arrangements for each procedure including equipment requested by physician.
• Responds to patient inquiries and concerns, provides service recovery when needed.
