Job summary

Adventist Health Saint Helena is seeking a Medical Appointment Coordinator to manage surgical scheduling, insurance verification, and preoperative documentation. You will coordinate with surgery facilities, prepare authorization numbers, and ensure patient readiness for procedures in a busy outpatient setting.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED, plus preferred associate degree or technical training and outpatient medical assistant experience.

Qualifications

• High School Education/GED or equivalent: Preferred
• Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred
• Medical assistant experience in an outpatient setting: Preferred
• Medical Assistant certification: Preferred
• CPR/BLS certification from AH policy: Preferred

Responsibilities

• Schedules patients for surgery and completes appropriate paperwork for surgery facilities.
• Verifies patient insurance coverage and determines whether referrals or authorizations are needed.
• Fills out paperwork to schedule appointments, including authorization numbers and demographic sheets.
• Schedules patients for diagnostic tests and surgical clearances; sends packets to facilities.
• Contacts patients about procedure dates, and schedules follow-up appointments.
